De manier waarop de meeste bedrijven hun source-to-payproces inrichten, verandert. Daar waar grote organisaties zich steeds meer richten op end-to-end automatisering, gebruiken middelgrote en kleinere bedrijven nog steeds een mix van automatisering en handmatige processen. Zelfs de grote spelers, waar het source-to-payproces inmiddels is geautomatiseerd, gebruiken vaak nog verschillende systemen die aan elkaar zijn gekoppeld en niet goed werken. De impact hiervan op organisaties is gebrek aan efficiency dat resulteert in hogere kosten. Veel eindgebruikers bijvoorbeeld kopen goederen in zonder gebruik te maken van de bestaande leveranciersafspraken. Wanneer source-to-pay gefragmenteerd is, is het moeilijk voor procurement om volledig inzicht in de data te verkrijgen.
Source-to-pay en the cloud
Sami Peltonen, vice president P2P product management bij Basware zegt hierover: “Lots of folks are talking about automating all of their spend. In reality, most companies have multiple different providers that deliver upstream and downstream solutions for direct and indirect procurement. As a result, their source-to-pay process is fractured and not tightly linked. We are encouraging people to consolidate all of these workflows into one cloud platform with AI capabilities where they can handle all of their spend.”
Volgens Peltonen van Basware is er inmiddels een goede business case om source-to-pay via de cloud te consolideren. “It can work much in the same way that large multinational companies grow through mergers and acquisitions. They centralize core services like IT via the cloud and have a stable platform for consolidating all of the steps. The cloud has made this work considerably cheaper that what was the case in the past.”
Artificial intelligence
De kracht van de cloud wordt nu uitgebreid met AI-applicaties die ervoor zorgen dat handwerk bij source-to-payprocessen zoveel mogelijk wordt geëlimineerd. Peltonen ziet drie belangrijke AI applicatiegebieden: “smart coding, predictive analytics and procurement chatbots”.
Hij geeft aan dat de sleutel om al deze AI-gedreven organisatievoordelen te realiseren, begint bij verzamelen van de corporate spend data. “Once you manage to have a system that captures the data, then you can start using all of the latest technologies like AI and you can begin to identify the best possible areas for savings across your source-to-pay process. The reward is then increased compliance, superior automation, enhanced businesses performance, and suppliers who be better enabled to deliver on time. It always starts by capturing all of that spend data”, aldus Peltonen van Basware.
